You can ask us to delete your personal information at any time, for any reason or none. This page explains how to ask, what happens next, and the small number of records we are obliged to keep.
1. How to request deletion
Pick whichever is easiest. All three reach the same place.
By email
Send a message to support@rechargely.online with the subject Data deletion request, from the email address you used with us where possible. Tell us the mobile number you used, so we can find the right records.
On WhatsApp
Message +263 77 983 4648 with DELETE MY DATA. The request is logged against the number you message from.
Through Facebook
If you connected to Rechargely through a Meta product, you can remove the Rechargely app from your Facebook settings (Settings & privacy → Settings → Apps and websites) and choose to delete your data. Facebook notifies us automatically, and you are given a confirmation code and a link where you can check the status of that request. Keep the confirmation code — it is how we identify the request if you contact us about it.
2. Confirming it is you
Before we delete anything, we need to be reasonably sure the request comes from the person the data belongs to. Usually that means confirming you control the mobile number or email address the request concerns — a short code we send you, or a reply from the number itself.
This is a protection, not an obstacle: deleting a person's transaction history on the word of whoever emails in would be a worse failure than the delay.
3. What gets deleted
- Your contact details — the mobile number and email address held for receipts.
- The link between your phone number and any Rechargely account reached through the WhatsApp channel.
- Saved payees: the nicknames and masked account references you asked us to keep.
- Your conversation state and support chat history.
- Message delivery diagnostics held against your number.
- Campaign and attribution data held against you.
- Your product analytics history — the record of the steps you took through a purchase, held under an identifier derived from your mobile number. PostHog keeps this for us as a processor, so the person and their events are deleted there as part of the same request.
Data held in your own browser — the theme, referral code, attribution, analytics identifier and cart entries described in our Privacy Policy — is on your device, not ours. Clearing your browser's site data for rechargely.online removes it immediately.
4. What we have to keep
A deletion request does not erase everything, and any service that tells you otherwise is either mistaken or not keeping proper records. We retain:
- Transaction and accounting records — for the period financial and tax law requires. These are records of payments made, not a profile of you, and they are not used to contact you or to market to you.
- Your marketing opt-out — kept indefinitely and deliberately. It is the record that stops a future import from re-adding you to a list you left.
- Fraud and abuse records — where we have a legal obligation or a legitimate need to keep them, for as long as that need lasts.
5. How long it takes
We acknowledge requests promptly and complete them within 30 days. Where a request is unusually complex we will tell you before the 30 days are up, and explain why.
Deletion is not reversible. If you use Rechargely again afterwards, you start with a clean slate — past receipts and saved payees will not come back.
6. Data held by other people
Some information about your purchase sits with organisations we do not control, and we cannot delete it on your behalf:
- Your biller — the telco or utility holds its own record of the airtime, bundle or token delivered to the number or meter.
- Our payment partner — Finivex holds its own record of the payment, under its own retention obligations.
- Meta — advertising events already reported, and WhatsApp messages as the transport provider. Ask Meta directly through your Facebook or WhatsApp account settings.
We will tell you who to approach if you ask.
